Getting found in ChatGPT: what companies can really do
Being mentioned in an AI answer is not decided by a secret file. AI search needs accessible, understandable and credible sources. So the work starts with the same foundations as good search engine optimisation and continues with consistent information outside the website.
Short answer
Make your company clearly identifiable: services, location, contact, prices or processes must be stated understandably on a crawlable website and match profiles, reviews and genuine mentions. A recommendation still cannot be bought or guaranteed.
Machines must be able to read the website
Important information belongs on the page as visible text, not only in images or PDFs. Every core service needs its own specific explanation: who is it for, what is delivered and how does the collaboration start? That helps people just as much as search systems.
Technically, crawlers must be allowed to fetch the pages. Clean internal links, unambiguous canonicals, a sitemap and sensible structured data make classification easier. Special AI files or dedicated AI markup are not required for this.
Publish answers instead of mere keywords
AI queries are usually questions with context: “Who helps a law firm with secure AI workflows?” or “How do I get more enquiries in Wiesbaden?”. A good page answers exactly such questions comprehensibly instead of repeating terms as often as possible.
Real decision aids help: typical starting situations, approaches, limits, cost logic and common questions. The answer may also say honestly when a solution doesn’t fit.
Independent evidence also counts
A new website can claim a lot about itself. Trust only emerges when details are confirmed elsewhere: Google Business Profile, Bing Places, reputable industry directories, verifiable references, reviews and professional mentions.
These listings must use the same spelling for name, address, phone number and services. Contradictions make it hard for search systems and prospects to identify the business clearly.
